WELCOME
Families, Students, and Community!
It is with pride and a heavy heart that I introduce myself as the Superintendent and School leader of the Ann Jerkins-Harris Academy of Excellence.
I come from a strong background in education as the daughter of an exceptional educator, Mrs. Ann Jerkins-Harris (FOUNDER). The Governing Board of Directors have entrusted me to continue and grow the vision that Mrs. Harris began in 2012. Like my mother before me, I believe that all children can learn and that we must educate the whole child. Our school is a leadership academy. With the help of Our Leader in Me social-emotional curriculum, we help develop the ability for children to be leaders of themselves, their school, and their various communities for today and in the future.
To make this vision a reality, at AJHAE we have recruited a dedicated staff that shares our vision of students as leaders. Our staff shares our high expectations for student growth and learning. Whether our students come to us as average, above average, or struggling learners, we strive to take them from where they are and help them see their potential for learning growth and leadership. We also seek to make our families part of our learning community and encourage parents to volunteer, participate, and join in on our goal-setting and planning for student achievement. Families, you are your child’s first and primary teacher. We are here to support the high expectations you have for your child.
